“Going Green Matters” Environmental Fair to be held March 11, 2012
Wilmette, Illinois - Whether you are just getting started or want to learn even more about living sustainably, join us for Going Green Matters, Wilmette’s sixth annual environmental fair and leave inspired to make changes that really make a difference. The fair will be held at the Woman’s Club of Wilmette, 930 Greenleaf Avenue, on Sunday, March 11th, 2012 from 1pm - 5pm.
The fair will include information booths, exhibitor displays, and presentations on topics such as growing your own food by Jeanne Pinsof Nolan, home energy conservation, renewable energy resources, green products, organic food choices, green landscaping, storm water management, the latest plug-in electric cars, eco-friendly fashions and more. Bring your batteries, Styrofoam and electronics for recycling.
Don’t miss the new, Interactive Eco-Zone where you can explore topics ranging from plastics in our everyday world, birds of Gillson Park, vermiculture, composting and new lighting options. Create electricity on the Energy Bike, test your eco-mettle at the Eco-Myth Busters table and meet the Plastic Bag Monster. Watch a local chef prepare raw foods recipes, calculate your home’s Walk Score and get tips for hooking up your own rain barrel. Be sure to visit the Go Green Café and Carol Freeman’s nature photography exhibit. Refreshments and fun activities for all ages. Free admission.
Going Green Matters is presented by Go Green Wilmette and the Village of Wilmette. Go Green Wilmette, founded in 2006, is a 501(c)3 corporation that works to raise environmental awareness in the Wilmette community and to inspire residents to take action to make a difference. “We’re adding several new elements to this year’s fair,” says Go Green Wilmette president Beth Drucker. “We want to keep the fair fresh and interesting as we continue to demonstrate the importance of environmental sustainability. Our fair will address many different topics and will have something of interest for everyone.”
